Part of our ongoing medical, fire and rescue training is periodically reviewing helicopter operations. LifeLine Helicopters are our go-to responding air evacuation service and they are on a great number of our medical and motor vehicle accident scenes, partly due to the severity of the incidents but also as our distances to a hospital are so great. LifeLine is most recognizable as the red and white helicopter often seen in the skies of Northern Colorado. We most often utilize the one at MCR Hospital in Loveland, or that stationed at Cheyenne. Three more are in Colorado: Colorado Springs, Pueblo and La Junta. The crew consists of the pilot, a flight medic and a flight nurse, whose on-board capabilities exceed those found in a ground ambulance. There are also fixed-wing ambulances available.
