Livermore Fire District Announces Promotions for 2025

The Livermore Fire District is proud to announce the promotions of two outstanding members of our team. Daniel Fithian has been promoted to Assistant Chief of Training, and Mark Herrington has been promoted to Captain of Wildland Firefighting.

Assistant Chief Daniel Fithian

Assistant Chief Fithian, a Colorado native, joined our department in 2014. Daniel attended Poudre High School, where he was a member of the wrestling team. After High School, Daniel took classes at the South Dakota School of Mines, and currently manages the family business, Hardrock Blasting.

Daniel is certified as a Wildland Firefighter, type 2; and has completed training as Wildland Sawyer, specialized training in Wildland Firefighting within the Wildland Urban Interface and as a Type 1 Wildland Firefighter. 

Assistant Chief Fithian is responsible for overseeing the Department's Training programs, vetting new members, and taking command of incidents when needed. He has been doing a great job with the training and is known for his calm and composed manner when acting as Incident Commander during emergencies.

Captain Mark Herrington

Captain Herrington is also a Colorado native and has been a member of our department since 2007. He graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in forestry and is currently the Captain for the U.S. Forest Service Initial Attack squad in Fort Collins. His experience includes working as a Squad Boss with the Silver City Hotshots, and many years working on hand crews, engines and helicopters with the USFS. 

As Wildland Firefighting Coordinator, Captain Herrington oversees our wildland firefighting training, operations, equipment, and taking command of Incidents when needed. Captain Herrington has many wildland qualifications, including Crew Boss, Engine Boss, Task Force Leader and Type 4 Incident Commander. 

The citizens of the Livermore Fire District are very fortunate to have such highly qualified and talented individuals serving in our department. Please join us in congratulating Assistant Chief Daniel Fithian and Captain Mark Herrington on their well-deserved promotions.
