Message from the President

A group of people with shovels pose in front of a "Future Fire Station" sign, marking the start of a construction project.

Neighbors, the above picture tells the story. The Red Mountain Fire Station is becoming a reality. Back in 2003 the Department’s leadership realized that sometime in the future a station would be needed at Red Mountain. Toward that end the Department entered into a 99-year lease with CSU Strata for one acre on the Maxwell Ranch. At that time there were not that many residents in the area. Last fall the Fire Department Board started discussing the project. With the mill levy increase of a couple of years ago we are able to take on this project. When completed it will be a five-bay station with a community room, captain’s office, a small kitchen, a washroom and equipment storage room. We are hoping to complete the outer structure in the next few weeks. The station should be finished by late March or early April. At that time, we will have an open house. Meanwhile, drive by when you can and watch the progress.
