Red Mountain Station 4 Update

A fire station with several large garage doors, an American flag, a fire truck in front, and a mountainous landscape in the background.

Well, if you live in the area of Red Mountain Road (County Road 37) you probably have seen the “Coming Soon” sign announcing our newest station number 4 on Red Mountain!  Many of our longtime residents have known or heard rumors of a Fire Station since 2000 when the leaders of Livermore Fire and Colorado State University Research Foundation entered into a 100-year lease for a one-acre plot to build a fire station at mile 6 on Red Mountain Rd.

We know it’s been a long time coming and we are excited that the station is finally going to be a reality very soon! During 2019, Chief Donn Maynard started making plans to move the Red Mountain Station project forward by recruiting firefighters for the Red Mountain area.  Since that time the area has continued to grow and the building of the station went from a nicety to a necessity.  Current Fire Chief Joel Meeter and Assistant Chief Jim Herrington began working to get the station project fast tracked.  At the time of this article, we have updated our lease with CSURF, obtained the well permit, and now have a set of completed architectural plans for construction. The Red Mountain Station 4 will have a training/community room and five bays for firefighting apparatus.  We currently have apparatus assigned to Station 4 once it is built. The station will house a Water Tender with 1800-gallon capacity, a Type 1 Fire Engine with 750-gallon capacity, a Type 6 Brush Truck and a Squad Truck.

We are still looking for volunteers from the Red Mountain area to fill positions at the new station. If you are interested or want more information, please contact Captain Keith Dunn Station 4 at kdunn@livermorefire.org.
